At the top of the Lakatnik Cliffs, rising from the height of heroism and the natural phenomenon, stands the Monument to the September Uprising Fighters. It was erected in honor of the heroic rebels who lost their lives, to remind future generations of the history and the cruelty of the monarchical regime. The monument is clad in red sandstone, symbolizing the blood that was shed.
On September 26, 1923, after three days of true people’s rule in the village of Osikovo, the fascists struck the rebels from behind. From the high Lakatnik cliff known as “Nechov Kamik,” they executed and threw into the abyss Milan Petrov, Stefan Trifonov, Yordan Kurtev, and Dimitar Boyadzhiev. The bones of the murdered rebels were placed in a small crypt at the base of the monument.

In 1950, the village of Osikovo was renamed after Milan Petrov, who was born there, and since then it has been called Milanovo.
From the monument itself, a beautiful panoramic view unfolds.
